P2 Technology Assessment for Minnesota Industries

"Which Minnesota businesses have the greatest potential to prevent pollution?"

When the State of Minnesota was looking for an independent assessment of those sectors in the state that had the greatest potential to implement P2, they turned to Pure Strategies because of the company's expertise in analyzing industrial processes for pollution prevention (P2) opportunities.

Pure Strategies identified the most polluting industries in the state and reviewed more than 180 state-of-the-art P2 practices. Our analysis identified technologies with the potential to pollution reduce the generation oftions of 9.2 million pounds of toxic chemical wastes and the release of an additional 2.1 million pounds of toxic chemicals releases to the environment. These technologies included novel cleaning practices in the state's dairy industry, new spray and coating technologies in fiberglass reinforced plastics manufacture, and closed-loop vacuum degreasing technology for use in the metal working industry. State officials promoted the technologies the identified by Pure Strategies as part of the state's non-regulatory technical assistance program.
