Tara Gallagher

Tara Gallagher specializes in developing and communicating sustainability strategies and in assessing water resource needs and risk. Her recent work includes authoring the 2010 sustainability report for The North Face and the award-winning 2007 and 2008 Seventh Generation Corporate Responsibility Reports. She has written documents on topics ranging from toxics in consumer products and packaging to local climate change initiatives. Before joining Pure Strategies, Ms. Gallagher worked at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection assessing risks to drinking water supplies and developing water supply protection policies and regulations. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honored her in 2001 with an Environmental Merit Award for her water supply protection initiatives. Tara has worked on a broad range of environmental and natural resource issues for the Environmental Law Institute, the Atlantic Center for the Environment, and in conjunction with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was a visiting lecturer in the Geography Department at Salem State University from 2004–2010.
Tara has a Masters in Environmental Management from Yale University and a B.A. in English from Middlebury College. She is a past Chairperson of her town’s Renewable Energy Committee and a member of the North Shore Writers’ Group. Her work at Pure Strategies is a natural outgrowth of a longstanding commitment to sustainability.
